Which version of this photograph do you like better: color or black & white?
Featuring a view of the Smoky Mountains looking towards Gatlinburg in the distance, as seen from the Foothills Parkway (old section) near Townsend, Tennessee, each are available on a variety of prints at these links –
Nature has to be in color! Joanna
Thank you, dear Joanna ~ have a great day! 🤗🌹
You are more than welcome! Joanna
PS. My middle name is Nature, and I am all color.
Both are amazing, but in this case prefer color…
Thank’s for share your art Phil.
Have a wonderful day!
I’m glad you like it & wish you the same, dear Elvira. 🤗🌹 TY
Thank’s for your kindness Phil. 🙏🤗🍀📷
Anche io preferisco il colore.
Buona giornata Fil!
Grazie mille, cara Lara. Apprezzo il tuo commento e ti auguro una buona giornata! 🤗🌹
Actually, I am a color addict, but in the black and white picture the clouds are looking better.
Thank you! 👍
In this case, I choose the color version, it is more natural, the aerial perspective gives a sense of greater space, the misty mountains on the horizon promise further adventures … The b&w version has a more dramatic atmosphere, the clouds dominate everything and do not encourage further travel.
Warm greetings from Poland.
Thank you very much for your thoughtful comments! 👍
🤍🖤🤍
TY dear Christine 🤗🌹
Beautiful but my preference for nature landscape is in color.
Right on, thanks 👍
Black & white!
Thanks 👍
Colour for obvious reasons! 🙂
Thank you, dear Indira. I appreciate your comment & wish for you a wonderful Wednesday! 🤗🌹
Color
Thanks 👍
Phil, sorry my friend but I love them both. Color is a natural attention getter, but black and white has a nostalgic, stunning feel as if it was taken with an old Brownie or Polaroid camera. 📸 Have I confused you with my no committal decision??? LOL 🤣😝😂
Yes, a bit. No, wait…well, maybe. LOL 😂🤣😉 All told, it’s all good sweet Kym, and I concur. I’m so glad you like it, and wish for you a splendid Wednesday, my dear friend! 🍯🤗🌹😙
Oh Phil, you never disappoint with your amazing spot-on, photographic vision. I love how you paint outside the lines and let us see the same shot, but through a different filter. Now honey, that’s art and that’s magical! Never lose that passion! 🥰🍯📸🌳😍💐😎 Big hugs my friend. 🤗💖😊
Thanks very much, my dear friend Kym & big hugs back atcha! 🤗🍯💖
I receive those hugs Phil!!! 🤗💖🥰🥂😘
Color please. Mommy Nature is too kaleidoscopic to render her simply black and white. Though I love b&w photography.
Thanks so much, dear Dawn. Wishing you a wonderful Wednesday! 🤗🌹
Thank you 🙏🏽 thank you 🙏🏽 and same to you Phil 😊
I love the way the light becomes a feature in the black and white photo, but the colors are very vibrant. Hard to choose!
Yes, I agree. Thanks so much, dear Katie ~ wishing you a great day! 🤗🌹
Black and white! So it looks very mystical to me, and I love that very much.🤩 But the coloured version is also very beautiful.
Vielen Dank, liebe Beate. Ich freue mich über Ihre freundlichen Worte und wünsche Ihnen einen wunderschönen Mittwoch! 🤗🌹
Beautiful images. Anita
Thank you, dear Anita ~ have a nice day! 🤗
The color photo is beautiful, but the black-and-white is more dramatic. The clouds look sweet and innocent in the color and much more ominous, portending a storm, in the B & W.
Right on, dear Dawn. I appreciate your comments & wish for you a wonderful Wednesday! 🤗🌹
Both! A lovely view.
Thanks John 👍
Black & white!
Thanks 👍
They’re both lovely. The color shows the skill of nature, the b&w shows the skill of the photographer. Also, I quite like the sepia tones and how the b& w engages the imagination, as well as defining shapes that I don’t notice as much in the color version. I like seeing them side by side.
I appreciate your comments, dear Joy ~ thanks very much & I wish you a wonderful day! 🤗🌹
Incredible!
Thank you, dear Sheila ~ have a great day! 🤗🌹
Both of these are amazing photographs, I definitely prefer the B&W, the textures and shading really make the landscape seem more enticing.
Thanks very much, dear Amelia 🙂
In landscapes I prefer colors, while portraits I like black and white.
I appreciate your comments, dear Paola ~ thanks very much! 🤗🌹
Perfect in black and white because that’s when it gets so dramatic. Have a great day, Phil! 🤗
Thanks so much for your comments, dear Kristallina ~ wishing for you a great day, too 🤗🌹
Although, I like your photos of rocks and mountains in black and white, I think nature photography should always be colourful.
Thanks so much, dear Ranjana ~ I appreciate your comments & wish you a wonderful day! 🤗🌹
Color but the black and white is a great contrast. Get it? 😃❤️
Yes indeed, dear Tonya ~ thanks so much my friend. I appreciate your comments and wish you a wonderful Wednesday! 😃❤️
May your day be blessed also.😃❤️
I’m definitely for the color! Probably watch too much black and white TV as a kid!🤣
😂 Good one, dear Lori. Thank you, and have a great day, my friend! 🤗
I love good color nature photos as a rule, but in this case there’s something special about the contrast in the b&w version.
Thank you Mitch 👍
The different shades of blues and greens make the photo for me. They continue to draw your eye further into the scene.
Thanks so much for your comments, dear Rebecca. I’m glad you like it, and wish you a marvelous Thursday! 🤗🌹
I loved the first one so colourful
Thanks very much, dear Priti 😙🌹
🙏
Both are very good but I prefer the color – looks more cheerful.
Thanks so much, dear Vanya. Yes, I think that most of the comments indicate a preference for the color version. Wishing you a lovely day, my friend! 😘
A living painting full of colorful nature that plays with a striking contrast to the black and white image. A dream come true 😍
It is a beautiful area, indeed, and I’m glad you enjoy the contrast between the color and black & white scenes. 😍 TY my friend!
It looks fantastic!!! 😊
The black-and-white image seems to have a more timeless quality. It also, visually, has a bit more depth as a landscape. IMHO.
Thank you, Craig 👍
Definitely black and white. No doubt working very well for this scenery and adds a dramatic look to the clouds, versus a somewhat flat color image.
Thanks 👍
The black and white is so stunning and brooding!
Thank you for commenting, dear Julie & have a great weekend! 🤗
You too!
Thank you 🙂
I love the drama of black and white 👍
TY dear EJ 🙂
I’m going with the black and white because it’s ASTONISHING in layered depth.
Thanks so much, dear Stephanie & I appreciate your kind words! 🤗

That’s a toughie, but I think I’d go with color for this one. Although I like them both, I don’t know if the scene is dramatic enough to pull off black and white.
Right on, dear Theresa ~ so nice of you to comment ~ thanks! 🤗
