Poem

When one ponders a place or relationship from the past, it’s likely that the present differs from such nostalgic recollections of that bygone era. People often romanticize fond memories, and time changes everything. Or, does it?

The theater has closed its doors
Empty seats, now blacktop and cars
Golden days of chocolate-dipped cones
Since reframed, with cold bricks and bars

They say we can never go home
That such times belong to the past
Yet, with love alive in our hearts
It’s our trip to take and make last

So let’s dance tonight by the moon
Til the dawn, just like way back when
Share our lives together anew
Yesterday, this day once again
