Tornado Update

The National Weather Service has classified the tornado which hit my apartment complex as an EF2, with winds up to 130 mph.

Following the mandatory evacuation of all residents on August 7, 2023, I’m now living in a hotel studio with kitchen, as of yesterday. No timeline has been established for return, and buildings with the least amount of damage are being repaired first. Unfortunately, my building has the most damage.

In addition, another storm came through a few days later and dropped 4.9″ of rain. As it turned out, every damaged roof had been covered with a blue tarp in advance – except mine. Hmm…

Here are a few photographs I took immediately following the destruction. The red arrow you’ll see points to my apartment on the top floor. On the other (right) end of the building, the entire roof is gone. Also missing is a tree in front of my balcony, which stood taller than the structure. The other two photographs show garages which were entirely destroyed.
