Having transplanted a small pine tree from the forest into a pot on my deck, I shared a photograph with my lovely friend, Dara, asking her if she thought it would grow to great heights, or, rather, come to resemble the tree from “A Charlie Brown Christmas“?

She indicated the latter, to which, channeling Dr. Seuss, I responded:

Yes, it may be a Charlie Brown tree, and that’s fine by me. Just as long as there’s a place, some happy space, for a gift lending joy to your beautiful, smiling face.
