This black and white photograph was taken in the attic of a log cabin built in the 1830’s – known as the Carter Shields Cabin, located at Cades Cove in the Smoky Mountains of Tennessee. I was able to ascend a thin stairwell, walk across a floor of creaking boards, and capture this scene of afternoon sun streaming through a window.
