Potter’s Falls is located in Morgan County on Crooked Fork Creek, a tributary to Emory River on the Cumberland Plateau in Tennessee.
Though parking is limited to a few spaces, it’s a rural setting and people probably park along the side of the road. I had the area to myself during my visit, but an abundance of spray-painted graffiti near the bridge, and a couple of rope swings, indicates its popularity. Potter’s Falls consists of two sets of waterfalls for visitors to enjoy.
Upper Potter’s Falls
Standing 18-feet tall and spanning the width of Crooked Fork Creek, Upper Potter’s Falls can be accessed within a short 100-foot walk from the parking area. The falls are beautiful, though graffiti is visible on both sides of the bridge. But, looking on the bright side, it appears that Bruce Loves Donna.
Lower Potter’s Falls
A short distance further downstream along an old forest road, hikers can access Lower Potter’s Falls. This is actually a set of two falls, standing 12-feet and 8-feet tall, respectively. It’s a scenic spot to enjoy the pristine beauty of nature, and to do so without distraction.
