  1. I love this so much! It’s calming – peaceful. And fascinating to explore. Gorgeous light! How wonderful! 👏👏👏👏👏

    1. It looked to have been used a lot over time, judging by all the carved initials in the rafters. It could sleep about 12 people. There were also cable-lines to secure your food items high in the air, away from bears. And, there was a natural spring for water, though boiling was still recommended.

  2. Cool black and white, Phil. Looks intriguing and mysterious. Maybe shelter from a storm.

    1. Good morning, beautiful. Well-constructed, it was located at the peak of the mountain, which meant that, despite hiking uphill over three miles, the trail then continued along a downward trajectory…the thought of giving back strenuous gains in altitude didn’t sit well with me at the time, so I sat in the shelter a spell to ponder. Hahaha

      1. Good morning. It is a beautiful morning. 😁 Sounds like an adventure! Pondering at the top of a mountain is a wonderful way to spend an afternoon. 🌄 Enjoy!

  3. Imagine the history and stories that shelter could tell!

    1. Yes, indeed. I’m not sure as to the date of construction, but it’s old and I suspect many, many people have taken refuge inside.
