Located on the Cumberland Plateau in Monterey, Tennessee, Bee Rock Overlook offers easy access from I-40 and a short hike to enjoy expansive views.

In between heavy rainfall as part of the weather system associated with tropical storm “Fred”, I was able to enjoy my first visit to this scenic overlook, albeit quite cloudy.

A large caprock of sandstone features several dated carvings with peoples initials. Parking is limited. No restrooms. Also, there are a few signs but no fences, so stay away from the edge (approx. 130-feet high).

Lastly, don’t be confused by the point of entry from the parking area. Though the drive is chained, it’s a public trail. So, just follow the well-worn path around the gate.
