Upper Catawba Falls

Located near the city of Old Fort within the Pisgah National Forest of North Carolina, the picturesque Upper Catawba Falls stands 50-feet tall. Though the mountain trail is difficult, the view is certainly worth the climb! You can visit my galleries for prints of all kinds, as well as many other items featuring my photography, here:

Enjoy the great outdoors!

  1. I noticed this waterfall trail is now closed, perhaps permanently. Great shots!

    1. Hey, Bryan. It was open when I visited. I did notice that there was some yellow caution tape laying around on the ground, and also later observed that a previously affixed climbing rope was removed or missing, though never saw any formal posting of closure. Thanks!

      1. Evidently there were enough deaths on the upper falls that a new route is being examined.

        1. That’s a good idea, as the trail is both steep and quite difficult – a dangerous combination, particularly following rain. I’m sorry to hear about such tragedies.
