Stairs and Stones

Hiking to the far side of Black Mountain, situated in Crab Orchard, TN, at an elevation of 2827-feet above sea level, one encounters a long stairway between boulders. It narrows to shoulder-width, so, if you’re claustrophobic, take note. The steps are uneven in depth and height, and may also be slippery, as the area is shielded from direct sunlight to evaporate moisture.

Once at the bottom, hikers find themselves in a maze of giant boulders ranging in size between 10 to 30-feet tall. Have fun, but don’t get lost!
