After exploring a labyrinth of giant boulders, I decided to hike along the side of Black Mountain, in the general direction towards where I thought my vehicle was located, assuming that I could simply ascend the mountain at that point.
While it isn’t necessary to carry a bag of breadcrumbs while hiking – in order to mark your path – it’s not a bad idea, either. OK, so I got lost for 45 minutes or so, lol.
After a while, it became apparent that these giant boulders were both quite numerous, as well as many being essentially indistinguishable. And, not to mention serving as visual impediments, forcing one to hike around, in hopes of acquiring a better view forward.
I knew that I could always turn around (which I eventually did), but I’d lost the trail some time ago, as well as meandering between the rocks. I also climbed a few larger boulders, hoping to have a clearer view from the top. Alas.
Despite my contentment to entertain the notion that there’s got to be a way out, ahead, I finally did attempt to retrace my steps, for a spell, before making the decision to simply climb upward through the forest, and stumble upon the main trail – which I was glad to find.
