Spruce Flats Falls

If you arrive early in the day, you’ll have this beautiful waterfall to enjoy all by yourself. Standing 30-feet tall, it flows all year-round, though the volume varies by season and storm.

You can enjoy my photography on a wall in your home, office, school, hospital, cafeteria or business lobby, when you visit my gallery to select a print of your choosing.

Thanks for visiting, and I hope you’ll find something you like!

Gorgeous water falling over the rocks into the cool pool below. πŸ’¦πŸ’§πŸ€—

Indeed, like you, the water also has a beautiful reflection. πŸ˜‰πŸŒΊβœ¨

Gorgeous. I’ve gotta tell you that I tried photographing some small falls yesterday and the results were not good at all. Makes me appreciate yours even more than I already did. πŸ˜πŸ‘

Well, you’re a sweetheart, Irene ~ thank you for your kind words! With waterfalls, light is the enemy. I always shoot soon after sunrise, or close to sunset. Always use a tripod, and make sure your water isn’t blown out too white. If the rest of the picture is underexposed, that’s OK and can always be adjusted in post. I like to keep my shutter speed set at 1/2 second, or maybe 1/3, depending on the volume. Very low water tends to require more time. Thanks for stopping by, my friend. πŸ€—πŸŒΉ

Thanks for your advice. I didn’t have my tripod with me, first mistake. My excuse, first time on this trail and had no idea there would be some falls. Next mistake, way too bright for sure. On the good side, I learned a few lessons by trying. πŸ˜‰

Looks so cool and refreshing! Lovely capture.

It is, indeed. Thank you, most lovely Michele. The soothing sounds of falling water are almost hypnotic, with a faint echo through the forest intensifying as you grow nearer the source…cool, refreshing mountain water. In my eyes, few sights are more desirable, with the distinct exception of seeing your heavenly smile to start the day. That makes it for me. Your visits are always appreciated, dear friend, and please stay cool today. πŸŒžβ£οΈπŸ€

Oh my goodness! Your descriptive summary brings the scene to life. I was admiring the cool-looking water last night in your photo, with desert temps still over 100. Thanks for the sweet response. πŸ˜‡πŸ™πŸ» Staying cool and hydrated is the goal. 🀞🏻 Planning the next escape from this scorching place is another goal. πŸ˜‚

Mornings are nice, for sure. πŸŒ… I hear the same from my brother in Scottsdale – so hot! It’s the truth and my pleasure, Michele. βœ… I guess it’s one thing to be cool – a label which you resist, yet I insist (lol) fits – and another to remain cool under the scorching summer sun. 😎 Like you, I also don’t drink, but do put water away like a fish. As per your next escape, if it’s Tennessee you say, you’ve always got a place to stay. ✌🏻

So hot and yet people keep moving here. πŸ˜• I suppose the pleasant winters make up for it. Snowbirds have it figured it out. A great gig if one can swing it! Thanks, Phil.

Thanks for the good weekend vibes, dear Isla ~ much appreciated! I’d be happy to show you the local sights, and there are many to enjoy. Rivers and waterfalls are quite common, popular during this hot & humid season. Stay cool my friend! πŸ€—
