Having read “Plumeria“, written by a dear friend – the lovely and talented Poetess, Holly Hunter – I was inspired to write this poem in response…
One more moonlight mermaid serenade
Under cover of night, tidal flow
Tropical, warming winds set the stage
Making waves, wet with love, hearts aglow
Then, as the moon became blanketed by clouds, she vanished with a splash into reflections of the sea. For many weeks, thereafter, I’d walk alone along the sandy shores of Florida, holding her close in my heart – an indelible vision of beauty etched on my memory – with the dream of one more rendezvous in the rolling tides of romance, with a mermaid named Holly.
