Reflections of Winter

A weathered tree lies horizontally across a calm, reflective body of water, suggesting a serene yet melancholic scene. The monochrome tones highlight the intricate reflections and the stark contrast between the branches and water surface. Nature’s quiet persistence is captured in the delicate interplay of light and shadow.

I photographed this sepia tone scene – where background, forest reflections depict abstract foliage, as if this dead tree were recalling an earlier time with a canopy of leaves over head – while visiting Byrd Lake at the Cumberland Mountain State Park, located in Crossville, Tennessee.

You’ve written such a fantastic description of this melancholy scene, my darling…. I can only agree with every word, and I love the idea that the tree is reminiscing on the time it was fully alive., standing upright facing the world, healthy and strong, … Sending all my love from here to there, … special delivery always, …❤️

Hello, my darling lady. It’s always so nice to share your company, and I appreciate your visit and kind words. It’s my sincere wish that, one day, we may share such sights and sounds of nature, together. Until such time, you make every place more beautiful by your presence, so with you is where I want to be. And, yes, I reciprocate, send all my love, here to there, special delivery, always ❤️

I do love Black and White photos, but don’t mention Winter anymore lol Just kidding but I’m Canadian and I do not like winter and I fear it’s on it’s way. Some parts of Canada have gotten snow already

Oh, say it ain’t so – already, snow?! it’s time to look ahead and get ready, I suppose. I do enjoy a snow blanketed, pristine landscape for photography, but as for the cold that comes with it…not so much 🙂
