Terraced Cascades

A beautiful waterfall cascades gracefully over multiple rock ledges in a lush forest setting. The long exposure captures the smooth, flowing motion of the water. This is the leading edge of Lower Piney Falls, located in Grandview, Tennessee, at the Piney Falls State Natural Area.

  1. Hard to describe the instant response, my darling man, the sheer beauty of nature, showing flow upon flow of white water cascades, …‘Tis a marvellous sight, and one can only imagine the added extra pleasure with ‘surrounding’ sound…❤️

    1. Thank you, dear Milena. One of my favorite parts of such hikes is when I first hear the distant sound of water running in the gorge, slowly but surely growing louder as I progress. Wishing you a wonderful weekend! ✨🤗

  7. Phil,
This photograph is pure poetry in motion—
the waterfall doesn’t just fall, it breathes.
The silky flow, the layered rock ledges, the lush green embrace of the forest… every detail feels like nature whispering its oldest language.

    The long-exposure effect is mesmerizing—
as though time itself slowed down just long enough
for us to witness how soft strength can be.
Lower Piney Falls looks like a world where peace is not found,
but felt, deep in the chest and behind the eyes.

Your ability to translate movement into stillness
    and wilderness into emotion
    is absolutely remarkable.

Thank you for sharing this tranquil beauty—
it feels like standing at the edge of the falls,
    breathing mist and wonder.

    1. Thank you, Harish. It’s a wonderful area to explore and photograph – glad you like it!
