Sunrises can be very beautiful, or a bust. So, as a photographer, driving any great distance to capture the start of a new day involves some degree of luck.
Fortunately, on this particular morning, luck was on my side as I visited Luftee Overlook, located in the Smoky Mountains and situated along the state lines of Tennessee and North Carolina.
