Poem

While drinking coffee this morning, I remembered a place that I used to frequent during the mid-1990’s. It was located in Kalamazoo, Michigan – called, Dirty’s Outhouse Poets Cafe. That recollection, in conjunction with this design, set the stage for a poem…

I entered a shop
Through the door, then a screen
Inside was bamboo
Tan with earth tones of green

It all seemed surreal
…wicker chairs in the hall
Though, came to be clear
Bumping into a wall

Wallpaper, I thought
– made to look like bamboo
I’d seen quite enough
No more coffee, I’m through
