Stones of Old

Hiking along the Laurel-Snow Trail in Dayton, Tennessee, I enjoyed taking photographs of these stones of old – remnants from the Dayton Coal And Iron Company, a mine which closed 120 years ago.

If interested, you can find prints available in my gallery. There are several types from which to chose, including: framed, canvas, metal, wood, acrylic, art, poster and tapestry. Others items, too.

Thanks for visiting!

  5. In future years others will encounter our ruins overrun by nature.

    1. Probably yes, though these structures were built much better. This particular mine suffered a massive explosion, ending the lives of many miners; hence, its closure. The old-timer working the park swears he can still hear their voices echoing through the canyons. Various mine shafts were subsequently filled and it remained dormant, overgrown, only much later to be included as part of the property acquired by the parks system. Thanks, Michael 👍
