This poem was written for my dear friend, the extraordinarily talented and beautiful Floridian Poetess, Rene from the House of Heart. She’s often on my mind and in my heart, and also a frequent source of inspiration for me. Please visit her site to enjoy her creative writings – thank you!
To a bar set on a lonely corner
Half past midnight, where no one tells time
She comes calling after hours for someone wanting
Love to share in a rhyme
Shining under moonlight in a short skirt humming
Wordless songs, woodwinds with melody
Strawberry blonde in a silk blouse, stunning
So beautiful to me
With a wink and a nod, floating through clouds
Up a stairway leading into space
There’s a room without walls waiting for stars to shine
For lovers to embrace
Songbirds sailing on sheets in waves of ecstasy
Stardust raining on the Sad Cafe
There’s no one better, I’m so glad I’ve found
An angel named Rene
